I am a writer, trainer and technical consultant with a background in the natural sciences and erosion, and a fervor for protecting water resources.

My clients come to me for help writing and editing best practices manuals for water quality protection, for developing water quality protection training programs and for technical assistance developing erosion and nonpoint source pollution control strategies for specific sites and watersheds.

As a writer, I excel at translating technical language from the natural sciences and the design professions into clear, lively text that is readily accessible to non-specialists. My specialty is working with teams as the facilitator and group editor of multi-discipline projects.

As a trainer, my strength is that I work with my clients to tailor education to specialized groups and operations and create ways to integrate training with regulatory requirements. My skills in photography and graphic arts enable me to infuse technical training materials with beauty and human interest.

As a technical consultant, I am particularly interested in the relation between human activities, stormwater runoff, and the resulting health of water resources. My expertise and favorite area of practice is in finding ways to control erosion in parks and recreational landscapes and on soft-surface roads and trails. I work with my clients to analyze geomorphic settings, site activities and stormwater runoff to develop suites of practices to control erosion and runoff of sediments and other pollutants to water resources.

As a lifelong hiker, skier, backpacker and kayaker, I am passionate about protecting water resources in our wildlands and cities, farms and forests, parks and greenspaces.
